Kidmedia: the first screen

01Challenge

Hundreds of small educational games, for children too young to read a menu, sold to the adults who choose for them.

The site had to speak to two audiences at once: parents and teachers who compare, subscribe and track progress, and the children who just want to press play.

02Approach

A friendly front door for the adults, a game room for the kids.

Define

Say why it is different

Any device, progress parents and teachers can follow, no ads or in-app purchases, activities tied to the curriculum. Each point gets its own row and its own owl.

Design

A library you browse by picture

The play area is a grid of game thumbnails with big categories down the side: maths, language, skills, music. Children find games by what they look like, not by reading.

Build

Free and paid in one place

One filter shows what can be played for free, the rest open with a subscription. Favourites, search and a full-screen mode sit in the same view.
