Syneches Institute
A generative identity for a research institute studying continuity in modular space.
Concept studies: fictional clients, real design and code.

01Challenge
A computational-architecture institute with a template portfolio site that said nothing about its subject.
It needed one calm front door for academics, residency applicants and commissioning clients, and a visual signature it could reuse in print without new imagery every season.
02Approach
We turned the research question into the identity.
One word everyone used
Interviews with the director, the journal editor and former residents, plus an audit of past print. The word that kept coming back was continuity.

A pattern that never breaks
A seeded hexagonal Truchet field where every arc meets its tile edge at the midpoint, so the network is always unbroken. Groups of tiles turn by a sixth and the field re-knits itself.

A page that reads like a journal
Manifesto, programme, featured work, symposium, open call, each numbered like a paper. One 2D canvas, no WebGL, a still frame under reduced motion.

03Outcome
A reproducible pattern the institute can use for journal covers, posters and screens, from the same seed.
- seed for every composition
- 1
- numbered chapters on one page
- 5
- WebGL, one 2D canvas
- 0
What shipped
- Generative tile engine as brand constants
- Type pairing and colour tokens
- Editorial landing page
- Hand-off notes for the in-house designer
Note
Concept study. The institute and its programme are fictional.
